Current Issue

SACRED AND CEREMONIAL

The Fall/Winter issue looks at how objects, artworks, and creative practices transform experiences and spaces into ones that are sacred and ceremonial.

Included are familiar sacred media of stained glass and silver Judaica to unexpected ones of birch-bark bitings, ceramic murals, and a Masonic tracing board. Featured Canadian makers are artist Diane Blunt, 20th-century ceramicist Lorraine Malach, and 19th-century silversmith Robert Hendery.

This issue also publishes the first John Fleming Award-winning essay by Cheyenne Mapplebeck on ceramic artists who display their work in ways that challenge museum spaces.
